how to prepare

For a newborn session, a nice long feeding makes baby good & sleepy and easy to work with. I usually photograph newborns naked or in just their diaper, but cute one-color onesies also work well. If you have any special outfits, blankies or objects you’d like to use, don’t hold back! I am here to make your pictures as special and personal as possible. I would love to capture a few special moments with mom and dad, plus any siblings or additional loved ones – so don’t be shy and plan to be in a few of the shots as well!

For infant/baby sessions, I try to schedule earlier in the day, after nap & feeding times so your baby is well rested, relaxed and happy.

For older kids, I come armed with snacks, stickers and bubbles for bribing – although if you know what works best with your child, don’t be afraid to let me know!

Keeping clothing simple allows the focus to go be on you and your family – this makes for timeless images. Seasonal accessories for children are encouraged (cute winter hats, mittens and/or scarves, sun hats for the beach), as are any props you may want to include (wood toys, tricycles, special lovies, bucket & shovel for beach shoots).
